Why do you want to work with APW Couples?
I want to work with APW Couples because I believe a wedding should be a celebration of love, not a competition for who has the most expensive dress/venue/cake/flowers/etc. I believe in personalized, meaningful details that express the couple’s individuality and customize the celebration to reflect who they truly are. I don’t believe in doing things just for the sake of doing them and APW Couples get that. They get what it means to be thoughtful, personal, meaningful, and deliberate in their wedding and to celebrate who they are both as individuals and as a couple.
Describe your artistic approach to weddings?
When I photograph a wedding, I seek out pure emotions and aim to capture those little “in between” moments that provide a glimpse into your relationship – the stolen glances, shy smiles, and subtle winks that show your love in a quiet yet significant way. I am respectful and observant when shooting and am fully present the entire day. I allow the couple’s style and the day itself to influence the editing style of the photos because I want to capture your day in a way that best reflects you.
I also like to have a little fun in the process to help you feel comfortable. You can probably expect a few random jokes, which might not be as funny as I’d like to think. Need some lip gloss, bobby pins, safety pins, or a little snack to get through the day? Chances are I probably have something on hand. And don’t be surprised if I climb on top of a golf cart or up in a tree to get the “perfect” shot!
What are your non-work-related hobbies?
I love baking (mainly because I love eating sweets) and trying out new recipes. I recently starting knitting again and am working on a baby blanket for my best friend’s first baby. I’m also trying to learn Italian (though not very successfully), making up rap songs with my boyfriend, and teaching my guinea pig Molly new tricks. I try to keep things interesting around here!
What’s your favorite book?
East of Eden, Jane Eyre, 100 Years of Solitude, the entire Harry Potter series, and most recently, The Hunger Games trilogy
What’s your favorite movie?
Um … I have lots. With a background in theater, I tend to watch just about anything and everything. But when I was little, I watched Who Framed Roger Rabbit 27 times in one week. Cartoons talking to people totally blew my 7-yr old mind!
If you could have a one minute dance party at your desk, what song would you pick?
Bad Romance. Say what you will about Lady Gaga but the girl makes awesome dance music.
