Why do you want to work with APW Couples?
When I meet up with couples who find me through APW, I can tell we already have a lot in common. Like me, APW clients are searching for the expressive, the resourceful, and the authentic. Whether I end up shooting newlyweds tossing a chicken to each other in a vintage grocery store (see my APW sponsored post) or a couple looking to have a very low-key wedding with only a few guests, I know there will be opportunities for beautiful photographs. I am always excited to work with APW clients and you make me proud to do what I do.
Describe your artistic approach to weddings?
I would call myself an unobtrusive documentary-style photographer. I focus on the unposed moments during a wedding, and I love to tell a good story with those moments. The most beautiful photographs occur when couples let their guard down, and I can capture them naturally together. I love working with natural lighting and taking laid back portraits as well.
What are your non-work-related hobbies?
I love to cycle and work on bicycles in my spare time. In the summer, I end up averaging around 150 miles a week, and usually more in the spring and fall when the weather in Texas is a bit more forgiving. Cycling is very meditative for me much like yoga. Yoga is pretty great too.
What's your favorite book?
I was an English Literature major in college so this is a very tough question for me. There are really too many to list.
What's your favorite movie?
I love the work of Robert Altman. His films are stylish, have unique cinematography and the viewer ends up falling in love with the characters almost immediately. If you haven't watched a lot of his work, I would say check out The Long Goodbye. It is definitely one of my favorite movies.
If you could have a one minute dance party at your desk, what song would you pick?
My girlfriend and I often rock out to Black Sabbath on Fridays after a long week of work. I would definitely say anything by Sabbath, yes.
