What we loved about this venue:
This picnic area has an amazing open shelter house that is surrounded by beautiful forests and a large open field. We were planning on having the ceremony in the field, but ending up having it in a forest clearing so that we would be in the shade. The shelter house is huge and has picnic tables that can seat 190 people. There is a large open area in the middle of the shelter that could also be used for the ceremony, especially if it’s raining or muddy outdoors. And you’re allowed to have alcohol, which is pretty rare at parks in Ohio!
Tips for working successfully with this site:
Book early! You can only reserve weekends and they tend to be booked pretty far in advance. I highly recommend visiting the site before the wedding to figure out everything you’ll need to bring. The park rangers are very friendly and great at answering any questions you have.
The drawbacks of this venue were:
It’s beautiful, but it’s pretty rustic. There are only vault-type restrooms (which can be a little tricky in fancy clothing) and the only source of running water is a drinking fountain.
