A completely different aspect of wedding planning that also surprised me was the lack of communication and caring we experienced when hiring vendors. There were so many that took a long time to respond (or never responded), rarely followed up, or didn’t take the time to put up an auto responder when they were uber busy. That lack of communication made it easy to feel they didn’t really care about a personal connection… which is total bullshit. Your wedding is important. You are important! Everyone deserves to feel taken care of. I’ve always prided myself on having great communication with my clients but getting married deepened my commitment to making sure I’m always in communication and providing my clients extra support if they need it. I love it when they send me a photo of their wedding dress, or ask me advice about the pros and cons of a first look, and I’m always happy to help them both as a photographer and as a human being!
