I won’t lie, writing this book was not a glamorous process. I could write a mile of text about how this book was one of the hardest projects I’ve ever taken on, about how it took over 40 interviews, a research assistant, a project manager, a copy/ development editor, and then my actual editorial team (all of whom I am beyond grateful to). I could tell you about how I—literally, actually—wrote the first half of the book with head down on my desk typing pathetically, because my pregnancy had made me so ill. I could tell you about how I wrote the whole thing pregnant (females are strong as hell, y’all).
But mostly, I just want to say—it was worth it: it’s the wedding book that would have saved us so many tears, and so much goddamn MONEY when we were planning our wedding. It has all the non-sexy stuff you need to know in a chatty girlfriend-to-girlfriend way (because we’re friends, right?). And as my editor just put it to me on the phone, the book is like, “Sorry this thing is going to suck, but if you do it this way it will suck way less.” Which is basically what I needed wedding planning, along with an occasional shoulder book to cry on.
So if you haven’t bought it yet, but were planning on it, I would love-love-love it (and you) if you could buy it today. It will save you piles of money and stress in wedding planning (pinky swear), and will make you feel like a feminist badass to boot. And if you’re not getting married, here is why you should buy it for your bestie or sister who is.
But mostly, I’M JUST SO GLAD THIS DAY HAS COME! As a sick pregnant mess writing this book, I tried to imagine the day where it would be here, with confetti (and a six month old baby). And that day is today. And I’m so grateful to all of you for making this possible. CONFETTI FOR ALL OF US!
