Aurelia D’Amore Photography
"Aurelia D’Amore is a one-of-a-kind photographer who was recommended to my husband and me by a friend. When she found out my bridesmaids and I were wearing boots, she excitedly asked, “can I wear my boots too!?” Of course the answer was “yes”, but boy did she need them! We nicknamed her “the billy goat” as she hopped from boulder to boulder, hid among brush, and even climbed tree climbs- all in pursuit of the best shot. At one point, a bunch of us even saw her cleaning up spilled wine on the dance floor! She was incredibly easy to talk to over the phone, and our first in-person meeting couldn’t have gone better. We met at a diner in Los Angeles and she came fully prepared with samples of wedding albums filled with photos she had taken. We ordered breakfast for dinner and chatted for well over an hour. When she first saw the ceremony site, she gave invaluable advice as to where we should place ourselves and our Bridal Party so as to be in the most flattering light, and as we roamed the rest of the property, she took notes on which shots she wanted to make sure she got. I followed her amazing Facebook posts up until the day of our Wedding, which reassured me she was the right choice. She is a very busy photographer, but when you are with her she is so focused on getting your needs met; she is so personable and caring. I felt so comfortable around her too. I tell people- “I want her to be my friend!” After much debate with my now-husband about which photographer to choose (we interviewed at least four), we were relieved once we had met Aurelia. I will recommend her to anyone and everyone that I hear is getting married, having a baby, or experiencing any other momentous event. Her energy is truly infectious and her photos are works of art"

Describe your business in 1-3 short sentences.
I’ve been told that I’m a photographer’s photographer which I find as a huge compliment. I’m most interested in story telling through a collection of images and capturing connection, energy, and portraits helps accomplish this. Most events, I’m like a humming bird with a camera, tirelessly capturing moments. Constantly looking, listening, and roaming for candid moments… and shooting till there is no light left and with a giant smile from behind the camera.
I am easily adaptable and will go above and beyond for my clients that appreciate the value of photography. I spend more time shooting and editing images than I do marketing. I prefer to give more of my attention to my clients and get to know them than to run a photography factory. I graduated from Art Center College of Design in 2001 with a BFA in photography. Over my many years in photography I have worked on a range of commercial and editorial shoots on both the creative and the production side. I bring all of that experience and knowledge into my wedding and event work for my clients benefit.
Why do you want to work with APW couples?
I enjoy working with creative APW couples who are excited to celebrate their love with their friends and family and really appreciate the gift of photography. The clients that gravitate towards my work want to look back at their images and recognize themselves in their photographs on one of the most special days of their lives, with images that feel real, fun, loving, and candid. They are looking for photography that will not just capture what things looked like, but remind them how they felt in that moment. I am comfortable photographing backyard weddings to ballroom weddings and everything in between that you can imagine.
What is your artistic approach to weddings?
When I photograph weddings and portraits, I strive to create images that feel natural, relaxed, and fun and not over complicated or staged. I am most interested in focusing on emotion and connection. I’d like you to look at your photographs tomorrow or decades from now and recognize yourself, your friends, and family, in addition to being reminded of what was inside your heart.
I work hard to fine a balance between art and service, so I extend to you my creativity and love every time I pick up my camera. I think photography is an amazing passport to so many different places, people, cultures, and ceremonies. My portfolio is diverse and is indicative of the passion and curiosity I have for life.

What's your favorite movie?
Il Postino: The Postman is a 1994 comedy-drama film. The film tells a fictional story in which the real life Chilean poet Pablo Neruda forms a relationship with a simple Procida postman named Mario, who learns to love poetry. The postman eventually befriends Neruda and becomes further influenced by Neruda’s political views and poetry.
Meanwhile, Mario falls in love with a beautiful young lady, Beatrice Russo, who works in her aunt’s village cafe. He is shy with her, but he enlists Neruda’s help. Mario constantly asks Neruda if particular metaphors that he uses are suitable for his poems. Mario is able to better communicate with Beatrice and express his love through poetry…… you’ll have to watch it to see what happens. It’s a beautiful love story.

I LOVE music! I am a Spotify junky! Especially in the car and while I’m editing photographs. Here is a link to some of my current favs!
Aurelia was so easy to work with! She described herself as a 'butterfly with a camera' and as promised - she managed to flit around our wedding and capture a ton of shots without ever feeling invasive or in the way - and yet was always right there when I wanted to get a specific person or shot. Our venue was in downtown LA, and she knew right away some great places to get some shots of us before the wedding that would have a fun/funky vibe. She really was able to strike the balance between making it beautiful, and keeping it true to us. We were very lucky Aurelia was available on short notice, and was able to hop on a call across several timezones to put us at our ease about how she would work on the day. Very easy to talk to, and also very professional - she made sure we had thought through who we wanted to have pictures with so that she could make sure she had those in addition to the more journalistic photos we really wanted. She did some additional scouting of the location to make sure that we would be able to accomodate limited mobility issues in my family and ensured everyone was comfortable. She was creative in using the venue and props available to get some really unique detail shots. She kept things fun and a bit silly, which was great to help us relax and be more natural in front of the camera. I'm so happy to have such great shots from our day and recommend her highly!
I am so happy we were able to work with Aurelia to photograph our wedding day. I was lucky enough to see Aurelia in action in two of my very close friends' weddings, and both times she was extremely professional, creative, and calming. Naturally, when it came to planning my own wedding, I was thrilled that she was willing to travel to Napa Valley to capture it, and her travel fee was more than reasonable. It felt like she went out of her way to minimize the travel costs and costs of an assistant, which I really appreciated. She was also great to talk to. From our initial phone conversation which lasted almost 2 hours, to meeting at the venue the day before the wedding, to hanging out on the wedding day, she was so easy to talk to and emitted so much positive energy. It was fantastic to have her there! And more than that, her work is stunning. Our photos are so beautiful and natural, which is exactly what we wanted. And because she was willing to go to several different locations within our venue, we have a great assortment to choose from. I highly recommend Aurelia for your wedding or any special moments you'd like to memorialize.
I couldn't have asked for a better wedding photographer! From start to finish Aurelia was amazing. She captured every detail and moment and went above and beyond. We had such a fun time doing on-location shots in the forest. She made the whole experience stress free and fun. I highly recommend Aurelia! Thank you so much for the stunning and beautiful photos you captured <3
Aurelia was simply the best. Our very first phone conversation lasted for well over an hour as we easily chatted about everything! By the time that conversation ended I had absolutely no doubts that she was a perfect fit for my soon-to-be husband and I. From the very beginning to the very end, Aurelia went above and beyond. Not only does her work speak for itself, but her incredibly high ethic and character are rare gems. On your wedding day, you want to feel confident that everything is running as smoothly as possible. Aurelia went the extra mile and the results were stunning. The photos were so authentic, beautifully representative of not only our wedding but our personalities. She put us and all of our family at ease, she rolled with the punches, and she helped us think through everything in advance to make sure that we were as prepared as possible. On the day of, she showed up early and stayed late. She pushed through even though it was 100+ degrees outside, even climbing through the bushes whenever necessary to get just the right shot! I could not be more grateful that we chose Aurelia as our wedding photographer and I cannot recommend her highly enough. You will not be disappointed. Trust me, she is #worthit and you'll be glad you spent the money on a pro!
