I have Alexis to thank for feeling present on my wedding day. Her composure and vivacity are contagious. She's also so beyond organized and on top of things. It's staggering to me that someone could be so warm, funny and artistic, and so organized and reliable!

Emily Z.

Yes, please! I'm happy to serve New York, LA and San Francisco, and charge no additional travel fee for travel within an hour of each of those cities. Getting married elsewhere? Cool! Drop me a line at, and tell me all about it.

You're doing things your own way, and that's cool as f*ck. I definitely have special rates for weekday elopements and smaller weddings, so drop me a line at and let's talk!

Describe your business in 1-3 short sentences.

Marriage is awesome. Weddings are a whirlwind. It's my honor to witness your marriage celebration and be the person who captures it for you and your community, creating the photographs that you'll enjoy today and hold onto forever.

Why do you want to work with APW Couples?

I admire fierce independence, epic love stories, and the kind of marriage that grows from genuine respect and admiration: all qualities inherent in the kickass couples of the APW community. I love that there is no “typical” APW couple; the community is a beautiful diversity of spirits connected by a common spine of intentionality, sanity, and celebration.

What motivates me as a wedding photographer, more than anything else, is bearing witness to magnificent expressions of mutual commitment. APW couples create their own magnificent expressions with a sense of love, humor, and meaning, and that to me is completely awesome.

Describe your artistic approach to weddings?

I like to consider myself at the intersection of planning and spontaneity. I'm pretty organized and will make sure that everyone is on the same page in terms of timing, order-of-day, and all that jazz, but a wedding day unfolds in its own way, and that's the magic of it. I like to plan ahead, and then go with the flow, capturing candids, moments, and details with a personal approach. I'm looking for the images that tell the story of the day, give a sense of you as a couple and your family and friends. Your wedding day itself goes so's my pleasure to be there with you and to create for you a visual impression of it that lasts forever.

What are your non-work-related hobbies?

Does a husband count as a hobby? I love my husband, and we try to spend as much time as possible together, indulging in cocktails, beer, and delicious meat and non-meat foods (the two food groups in our house), while daydreaming about our future adventures. I'm into improv, comedy, movies, "trash" television (one lady's trash is another's treasure!), desk and non-desk dance parties (see below), falling into tangents on Wikipedia and spending an inordinate amount of time reading about luxury travel in the early 20th century, writing, and gabbing about cities and culture with friends and strangers.

What’s your favorite book?

Still Life with Oysters and Lemon, by the poet Mark Doty

What’s your favorite movie?

I have to give a top 3: Wet Hot American Summer, Moonstruck, and Hedwig and the Angry Inch!

If you could have a one minute dance party at your desk, what song would you pick?

Here is the truth: I will dance to anything, and everything. Viennese waltz, Katy Perry, A-Ha, Beatles, Cole Porter, Ukrainian folk songs, the Four Seasons, Bon Jovi, Irish fiddle music, a sweet drum circle, Ace of Base: if there is a beat, I will dance to it. And if there isn't a beat already going, then what are we waiting for?!
