Describe your business in 1-3 short sentences.

We're stage managers and costumers bringing our very practical theater skills to your very practical wedding. We've only got two rules:

1) Choose the right person to marry (this is really important, so don't screw it up!)
2) Meet the requirements of any religion and/or jurisdiction you wish to recognize your marriage.

Everything else is just a party and we are excellent party planners!!

Why do you want to work with APW Couples?

Honestly, we are very down-to-earth people, and we fully support the APW philosophy that a lifetime of marriage is far more important than a wedding day. We love that APW couples stay rooted in that idea, regardless of what kind of wedding they are planning. Our ideal clients are smart, practical people who want an authentic and beautiful wedding (however they define that) - and that is exactly what the APW community is. When we meet fellow APW readers, we almost always feel like instant friends, and those are the best kinds of people to get to work with!

Describe your artistic approach to weddings?

As planners/coordinators, we are there to support and execute our clients' ideas - so whatever their idea of the perfect wedding is, that's what we'll be working on! We love all the different ideas that come along with each new couple - many times, we even wish we'd thought of some of them before our own wedding. We have artistic backgrounds with a hefty dose of organizational mojo, so we'll always keep an eye on the big picture as well as the little details; but ultimately we want our clients' ideas and personalities to shine through. We're just here to make it happen.

When it comes to what you're wearing, our number one goal is to make you feel awesome. You bring your inspiration (as vague or specific as you please) and we will transform it into clothing. We have a deep love for natural fibers (silk, in particular), lots of texture, and 1930s Hollywood glam style. We also love to make dramatic changes to existing garments (for example, chopping from the knees down and using the lace train to make a veil and sleeves). But really - a custom garment should be what YOU want, so we'll combine our artistic sensibilities with yours to come up with something magical that you absolutely love.

We know the price range above is somewhat unhelpful since we do so many different things, so we thought we’d break it down for you as best we can. Our services are priced according to your wants and needs, and generally fall into these ranges:

Wedding Coordination & Planning - $1,800-$6,000
Custom Wedding Attire - $2,500-$7,000
Veils & Fascinators - $40-$300
Corsets - $400-$900
Alterations are priced by the labor hour; most clients spend $250-$500 on wedding gown alterations or $100-$300 on bridesmaid dress alterations

What are your non-work-related hobbies?

Food! Oh boy, do we love food. Cooking, baking, drinking wine, eating at great restaurants... that's our fantasy life. We love food so much that we write about it frequently on our blog and we usually try a new recipe or two every week. We're on the hunt for the perfect wine fridge so we can keep more on hand, and our big date night splurge is almost always on a restaurant. Julia loves to make up recipes on the fly from whatever happens to be in the kitchen, and Cindy hardly needs an excuse to make a cake. Besides sating our appetites, we love going to the beach, actually seeing plays when we aren't working on them, reading, puttering around the house, and occasionally attempting to keep some plants alive.

If you could have a one minute dance party at your desk, what song would you pick?

When we put our heads together to answer this question, we came up with Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance". Neither of us are big pop music fans in general, but for whatever reason this song makes us both want to get up and dance. It's fun, it's catchy, it's got Hitchcock references... what more do you need for a break?
