Evangeline Lane

Describe your business in 1-3 short sentences.

I see photographing a wedding like being invited to tell a deeply personal, highly magical and beautiful story with my camera. To me, the beauty is in the little moments, the imperfect moments, the real and honest moments between you and your partner and the community that supports you. It’s about capturing the wide mouthed laughter and the tears, the tender looks of love and anticipation, and importantly the environment that surrounds you. It’s not about a single photograph, it’s the collective moments, even the ones you may have forgotten that tell your unique story.

Why do you want to work with APW couples?

Because you follow your own set of rules and are most concerned with making your wedding meaningful and special to the two of you despite what the wedding industrial complex might say. Because capturing your day is important to you and you want a photographer that will document it perfectly. You’re madly in love and while you can’t wait to celebrate one of the most romantic and important days of your life, you really just can’t wait to be married to your best friend.

What is your artistic approach to weddings?

I’m super laid back and easy going. I like to capture the majority of your day as it naturally unfolds with a mix of candid moments and artistic lifestyle shots. During portrait time I will guide you if it seems you need the encouragement, but it’s the moments in between those poses that I live for.

For me to capture the best images it’s really important that we get to know each other over video chat or in person. I promise you’ll be comfortable with me even before your wedding day. This is what helps me capture authentic, honest and real moments with little posing. I may be a fly on the wall silently capturing at times or laughing and swooning alongside you, but above all else I want you to rest easy knowing that I am there taking care of the photo magic.

I’m all about capturing the romance; the feel and vibe of your wedding in a way that is more timeless than trendy. I want your photos to transport you back to those little moments of your day and let you fall in love all over again.

What are your non-work-related hobbies?

Traveling, traveling, traveling. Daydreaming of adventures with my baby girl, camping in Big Sur, hiking with my pup Chichi, driving all around Southern California trying to find the best East Coast style seafood, making tacos- eating tacos.

If you could have a one minute dance party at your desk, what song would you pick?

Sylvester- “do you wanna funk” because it’s from one of my all time favorite 80s movies- Trading Places.
