JC Lemon Photography

I could not have imagined having a better photographer for my wedding day! Not only was the final product AMAZING, Jon was such a pleasure to work with from the moment we booked our date with him to the delivery of our wedding photos and photo book. Jon truly has an eye for capturing each special moment throughout such an exciting day. Not only is Jon's work product fantastic, he is such fun to be around and he made the entire process exciting. My husband and I could not be happier with our choice to have JC Lemon Photography photograph our wedding day!

Describe your business in 1-3 short sentences.

Candid moments + editorial portraits captured in a modern, relaxed style. Your wedding day is more than a set of individual moments, it’s a vivid story of interwoven smaller stories.

Why do you want to work with APW couples?

APW couples always end up having a kind, smart, and practical person at their core. They might get stressed like everyone else getting married, but at the end of the day, they always know that the wedding is the celebration to start the beginning of their new lives; not a day to lose their sanity over.

What is your artistic approach to weddings?

I didn’t go to art school. My mom got me a film camera as a high school graduation gift and I spent the semester before college going back and forth between a dark room and around town to shoot as much as I could. I’ve learned everything I know by just picking up a camera and going outside; I learned things like composition and exposure by exploring the world around me and experimenting.

This tends to get me feeling a bit like Indiana Jones when I step into a wedding day. I love to wander around and catalog little artifacts that I uncover throughout the day, whether it be a sweet moment between the bride and her mother or the sweet cufflinks the groom is sporting. Besides exploring and switching out idols with sandbags, I love to take strong portraits of my couples; I love the look of off-camera lighting and the drama it can create, so I tend to work that in a lot.

What are your non-work-related hobbies?

I’m always on the go. I rock climb at least twice a week, ride my bike around the city as much as possible when it’s not winter, and home brew some pretty awesome beers.

I like to travel with my wife as often as possible and we always take at least one big trip a year. We’ve hiked some amazing mountains, snorkeled with some crazy sea creatures (I’m not much of an ocean person, so that was a little terrifying!), tried plenty of questionable street food, and explored cities near and far.

What's your favorite book?

I love reading the Sherlock Holmes collection, but right now I’m making my way through books about home brewing and rock climbing.

What's your favorite movie?

Amadeus, hands down. F Murray Abraham is the man.

If you could have a one minute dance party at your desk, what song would you pick?

Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock’s It Takes Two..I know all the words and dance like no one’s watching.

Pros

We were so thrilled to have chosen Jon as our wedding photographer. He was hyper organized and responsive to all of our questions, and so friendly and relaxed that his presence helped us feel truly at ease. Plus, the end product - colorful, joyful photos that captured all the best moments of our day - was perfect. Could not recommend more highly.
