Travel Policy

I have no travel fee's for Los Angeles (within 45 miles of the city center)

All other places I'm happy to negotiate the best possible rates for whatever is needed to get me to your event. In most cases, I'd prefer a cozy Airbnb to a fancy hotel anywho, but once we get together we can sort it all out. I have 2nd photographer contacts all over the US, so the travel fees normally are just for myself.

Elopement Policy

I love elopements! I do offer special pricing for elopements and M-Th weddings. Get in touch and we can discuss. ;-)

Describe your business in 1-3 short sentences.

Hello! I’m Laura, an editorial style photographer who specializes in weddings. I like to focus on candid moments, details of the day and natural ‘unposed’ portraits. My clients tell me that I am very approachable and fit right into their company. I have a detailed yet relaxed intention to my photography and my goal is to capture the essence of your day without being in the way. 😉

Why do you want to work with APW couples?

I have only heard and read lovely things about APW and I feel that the vibe, culture and values fit right in with what I do.

What is your artistic approach to weddings?

I document weddings in a beautiful and unobtrusive manner. My highest priority is to capture the natural beauty and essence of a couple on their day. I do very little “coaching” and tailor my interactions based on each couples personality. I always have a consultation or engagement shoot with my couples before their wedding day to understand just what they are looking for and to make sure I’m the photographer who fits their vibe and can meet their needs. I am a naturally quiet observer and I think this quality lends itself to capturing those special moments that can easily be missed. 🙂

What are your non-work-related hobbies?

I enjoy beach days! Swimming and lounging alike! Reading makes me calm, and I go to the movies just for the popcorn. 😉 (don’t we all?)

What's your favorite book?

The Giving Tree, by Shel Silverstein

What's your favorite movie?

THE GOONIES!!!

If you could have a one minute dance party at your desk, what song would you pick?

RESPECT. (My mom would blast it while vacuuming when I was a kid.)

Pros

Laura is the BEST. Finding a photographer for our wedding was one of the most important parts to us. Laura is not only insanely talented, but she is also incredibly sweet and fun to work with. My husband and I legit had a blast doing our first look and taking photos before our wedding. Laura has a talent for understanding people. She gets to know you really quickly and is really good at picking up on what you like. She scouted out locations for our photos that were exactly what we were looking for without us even knowing it ourselves. She makes you feel comfortable behind the camera and is great at giving direction without making you feel posed. She is also great at wrangling family and friends; my husband's family is huge and she managed to get them all to cooperate for lots of family photos that turned out beautifully. She also did us a solid when our timeline ran long and stayed later than she had planned to capture a few photos of our friends and family getting down on the dance floor. We just got our photos back and looking at them made us feel like we were able to relive our day all over again. They're intimate, candid, and capture all of the little moments we loved about our day. We highly recommend Laura!

Cons

None - she's awesome.

Pros

Laura shot our wedding at the Ruby Street in August of 2018 and I just can't say enough nice things about her and her fabulous work. First off, she's very hardworking and has such an amazing eye and way with people. She made all of our guests feel at ease and she dressed nice and blended in with the vibe of our wedding! Beyond that, she was so NICE (a rare quality these days!) and very fun to be around and helped us all feel relaxed enough to be ourselves and still get good photos! Overall, we just couldn't be happier with how our photos came out or our experience having Laura at our wedding. She's very good at what she does and went out of her way to make sure we got every shot on our list! She's the best! HIGHLY recommend!

Cons

Zero. Laura is a class act and total pro!

Pros

Booking Laura Ford as our photographer was the best wedding decision we made! I initially thought I didn't care that much about my wedding photos and I just wanted to make sure that we got the essential shots. But once I started researching and talking to different photographers, I realized that: (1) even people with zero photography knowledge like me can see big differences between wedding photographers' finished product; and (2) it is just as important that your photographer create beautiful pictures as it is for them to have a positive and supportive, yet assertive, presence that will make you and your friends and family feel comfortable on a chaotic day while also making sure to get all the shots you want. Laura is all of these things and her photos are just incredible. Laura and her assistant at my wedding, Todd, were super professional and smart but also had the best attitudes ever. We were on a tight timeline, had very large wedding parties and families, and had a lot of different shots we really cared about getting. Laura was in control the whole time to basically herd cats for our posed shots, and she and Todd discretely moved around the ceremony and reception to get amazing candid shots of us and our guests in her beautiful and unique style. From distracting the kids to keep them from running to their parents taking posed pictures, to taking what has been unanimously dubbed the best picture ever of my husband's 95-year-old grandma (on the dance floor), Laura is just the best. We are truly blown away by our photos and everyone who sees them agrees. She captured the day perfectly and added to it with her awesome personality! Thank you Laura Ford Photos!

Cons

None! I am so happy I hired Laura!

Pros

We absolutely loved working with Laura! She has such a great energy and is extremely reliable and professional. We set up an in person meeting at first to make sure we clicked and then had follow up emails and phone calls leading up to the big day. We hired her to do an extended day to be able to capture the getting ready moments and she stayed all the way to our last dance. Her photography style truly captures the moments of our wedding and makes it easy for us to be able to relive it. Laura has a very artistic eye, which is extremely refreshing in wedding photography. Our guests even told me how impressed they were with how she was able to get all the shots while staying in the background and not taking away from the moment. We could not be more pleased with our photos and look forward to having an opportunity to work with her again.

Cons

None, we highly recommend Laura.

Pros

Laura has a gift for capturing moments naturally as they unfold. Her pictures tell the story of our wedding day in the best way possible, with candid moments of joy, happiness, and heartwarming feels in every shot. One thing that is so fascinating about Laura is you hardly know she is there! She is truly a fly on the wall as she works--not interrupting even the most intimate moments but managing to capture them all the same. She also took the time to meet with us well before wedding day to get to know us better as a couple. Closer to wedding day she asked us questions to help surprise us with personal stories or inside jokes my husband and I share to elicit a true smile in an otherwise posed moment. Her attention to detail in capturing the big, and minute moments combined, is invaluable on a day that goes by so quickly that those details are often hard to appreciate on your own. If you have any doubts about Laura I urge you to leave them behind! You will not regret working with her--you only have this one day to capture precious moments that will last a lifetime! Thank you Laura!!

Cons

Seriously, none. Seriously!!

Pros

It is impossible to overstate how much we LOVE Laura Ford! Photography was one of the most important parts of our wedding, so we started searching for a great photographer early in our wedding-planning process. It was actually here on APW that we first learned about Laura Ford. We loved Laura’s photojournalism style: from her portfolio, we saw that she’s great at capturing fleeting candid moments that encapsulate the joy of the day. We also loved how her photos were not heavily filtered. Her photos looked fresh and modern, yet paradoxically also timeless and classic. We knew we wanted to have Laura as our photographer, so we set up a meeting with her before booking our venue. Within ten seconds of meeting her, we knew she was the one. She was so warm, fun, friendly, and approachable, but still extremely professional. Some wedding vendors can make you feel like you’re just going down a factory production line with no personal interest, but Laura wasn't like that at all. She showed genuine interest in us and made us feel valued. We did an engagement shoot with Laura so that we could get to know her style better and get comfortable posing for photos together. We found a somewhat secluded area of Griffith Park that had a variety of backgrounds, and spent two hours there. Laura immediately put us at ease when we began the photo shoot. By the end, we realized that we had been laughing a lot and having fun. She very promptly gave us a couple of sneak-peek photos, and then sent the entire set of photos soon after. We were so thrilled with her photos! Laura then asked us to tell her our favorite photos to give her an idea of styles to focus on for the wedding day, which was a nice touch. Before the wedding, Laura gave us a very thoughtful questionnaire, which reaffirmed to us just how organized and professional she is. The questionnaire asked for a range of information, such as members of the wedding party, vendor names, a list of requested photos (e.g., high school friends, individual shots with parents, etc.), the wedding-day timeline, etc. In keeping with our entire experience with Laura up to that point, she came to the bridal getting-ready location on time and completely prepared (her assistant, Todd, did the same for the groomsmen). Seeing her again on the wedding day was like seeing an old friend rather than a vendor. She was so personable with everyone and got straight to work taking photos without being intrusive. At the wedding venue, she continued to be impossibly present at all places, capturing all moments, seeing all opportunities for an interesting angle or background. We felt completely relaxed with her, and from the first few sneak-peek photos we’ve seen, we are so confident that Laura Ford was the best photographer for our wedding. Since we aren’t planning on having another wedding, we’ll have to think of other events to hire Laura for, because we just love her and her work so much!

Cons

None whatsoever! She was absolutely everything we had hoped for, and then some!

Pros

From the beginning, I knew Laura would be a low-key presence with an eye for the candid moments and tiny details of the day. My husband and I are both journalists, so having more of a photojournalist approach was perfect for us. Laura managed to stay in the background, while capturing every moment. Having a second photographer on her team was also so valuable, and made her pricing that much more competitive with other vendors. Between the two of them they were able to cover both of us getting ready with our guys/ gals, first look, several angles of the ceremony, and helped us get all the requisite family photos done while also having loads of guest shots. The photos came back edited in an easy-to-use online album within weeks, and they are just stunning. The colors pop, there's crispness and fades in all the right places, and they show all of the emotion and fun of the day. Highly recommend!

Pros

Laura is the best! Our wedding took place in Topanga Canyon, but we live in Boston so it was important to us that our vendors were easy to work/plan with remotely. Laura was so responsive over email, quick to set up phone calls when needed, and we trusted her immediately -- even across the country. Laura obviously takes amazing photos (you can check that out on her website), but I think her biggest value add is in her personality. She is so pleasant to be around, and got along with all of our guests, family, and vendors. I wasn't great about knowing which pictures I wanted taken (of people, things, etc.) and she just jumped in there and took every shot I didn't know I wanted. I didn't have to give her any direction at all. Also, I was pretty nervous about having all of the attention on me on my wedding day, and she did a great job of guiding my husband and I through pictures (but not too much), in a really comfortable way. It's also worth noting that the Laura's assistant also had an amazing attitude (she was smiling ALL day) and took great photos! We can't recommend Laura enough, so if you're thinking about her, go for it!

Cons

Nothing -- she was amazing!

Pros

Almost a year out from our wedding, we still can't believe how lovely our pictures turned out! Beyond delivering stellar photos, Laura was a pleasure to work with leading up to the wedding and the day of, too. She was organized, patient, able to handle the extended family (seriously, such a skill), and brought such a happy energy to the whole experience. Sarah, Laura's sister and assistant for the day, was also wonderful! Can't recommend Laura enough!

Cons

ZERO, truly - everything was handled and perfect!

Pros

Laura Ford is a goddess. While she may have been the only vendor that didn't cause any headaches, there were many moments during our wedding day (both privately before ceremony and at the reception) that we truly thought nobody noticed - but Laura captured them all so beautifully! It is such a treasure to see them again. Her personality meshed with our group well and the images were truly breathtaking. Our Detroit wedding was that much sweeter with her there. I cannot speak highly enough!

Cons

NONE. I loved having Laura and her jelly shoes with us on our wedding day. Looking forward to finding an excuse to work with her again in the future.

Pros

My husband and I hired Laura three years ago (2014) to shoot our wedding. I think it speaks volumes that she and I still keep in touch. In addition to being professional, and a talented photographer. she is calm, cool and collected at all times. And, she is right - she is a naturally observant person. She captured some awesome moments from our wedding. And, she wrangled up family members and the wedding party for portraits with grace and ease. I highly recommend Laura!
