Describe your business in 1-3 short sentences.
After five years of shooting both elopements and the big, all-day weddings, I've chosen to specialize in shooting only elopements so my couples can have the opportunity to slow down, be fully present, and soak in every single moment of our time together. I believe your wedding photos are your first family heirlooms, so both my local elopement package and destination elopement package include the high-resolution files and archival-quality prints to treasure for generations to come.
Why do you want to work with APW Couples?
I don’t believe in doing things just for the sake of doing them and APW couples totally get that, too. Whether they fall on the traditional or non-traditional side of the spectrum, they instinctively know what it means to be thoughtful, personal, meaningful, and deliberate in their wedding planning choices in order to celebrate who they are both as individuals and as a couple. As a former APW bride, I feel fortunate that I am able to work with like-minded couples who are enthusiastic about photography, see their wedding photos as family heirlooms, and truly appreciate the time and skill it takes to make great images.
Describe your artistic approach to weddings?
I believe photography is the closest thing we have to a time machine. It has the power to transport us to a different place and time and flood us with emotion all over again. I’ve discovered that what I absolutely love most about the wedding day is the pure emotion of the ceremony and the one-on-one time with my couples to capture portraits that give an inside glimpse into their relationship - the stolen glances, bashful smiles, and subtle winks that show their love in a quiet yet significant way. As a natural light photographer, my focus is on capturing sweet candid moments between you and your love, along with a healthy dose of authentic and beautiful portraits, to create your very own personal time machine that transports you back to your wedding day whenever your heart desires.
What are your non-work-related hobbies?
It's hard to find time for hobbies when you're running a business from home and raising a little human, but when I have some down time I like to read, hike, and shoot nature or travel photos. I've also returned to my old college hobbies of knitting and crosswords because I'm actually a 70-something grandma trapped in a 30-something's body. ;)
What’s your favorite book?
The Harry Potter series. That counts as one book, right? East of Eden, 100 Years of Solitude, and Jane Eyre top the list, too.
What’s your favorite movie?
I can't really say it's my current favorite but when I was 7, I watched Who Framed Roger Rabbit 27 times in one week.
If you could have a one minute dance party at your desk, what song would you pick?
Michael Franti's Say Hey (I Love You) or anything of Lady Gaga's. But if my toddler got to pick the dance party song, it would be Disco D (thanks, Sesame Street)!
