At some point in the planning process, you may have had someone tell you, “No one is going to care about your wedding as much as you do.” And sure, it may be true that no one else is going to have quite the same stakes in making sure the chairs are not ugly, or your shoes are the right shade of sea foam to match your nail polish, or your dress has the appropriate level of bling. (Hey, we all have our wedding kryptonite.) But, if you’re lucky—or smart—you’ll hire a vendor or two from the special breed of people that truly live and breathe weddings. This kind of vendor actually loves to help you navigate the process, and sees you as not just another client, but as an awesome couple with a unique relationship planning a unique celebration. This kind of vendor considers designing, or planning, or photographing weddings their art.

Photographer Dustin Cantrell is one of those vendors.

Based in San Francisco, but always down for an adventure, Dustin shoots weddings all over the world. Since he travels frequently, he’s kind of a pro at the jet-setter lifestyle… and he’s also a pro at making you look like you’ve just stepped onto a super glam film set that happens to be where you’re getting married. You know, as you do. And you know what else? Six hours of coverage begins at $2,800 in San Francisco. (I know, Bay Area couples. I KNOW.)

Part of what makes it possible for Dustin Cantrell to capture you at your best (beyond prodigious skill) is his ability to put you at ease from day one. Dustin realizes how much work can go into planning a wedding and he’s committed to making that experience easier. From the day you book, he’s there to get to know you, answer every single question you have, and make suggestions for how to take advantage of your venue and available light. All that knowledge and delicious light means gorgeous photos that you’re going to love for years, like this:man and woman laughing together on a bed

On the day itself, Dustin will make sure everything runs smoothly, and then he’ll deliver a ton of killer photos. He’s not happy settling for a handful of great shots—he wants every single one of the 500+ images he delivers to be great. (Spoiler: They totally are.) Here’s what one recent client said about working with Dustin:

Dustin was wonderful! My husband and I so enjoyed working with Dustin on our recent wedding (and engagement) photos. The quality of Dustin’s work is excellent. We knew from the outset we wanted photos that captured more than traditional portraiture—we wanted images that caught natural moments and emotion, yet excellently produced. Dustin delivered one hundred percent. The photos, both from the engagement session and wedding, were superb. Second, Dustin was so professional (organized, timely, a good communicator) but also warm and relaxed. He got all of the shots that were important to us (and photos we didn’t even know we needed until we saw them). He managed to both fade into the background (I didn’t notice him at all during the ceremony, yet he got so many great photos), and then give good direction when needed, wrangling large and loud families and offering my husband and I helpful guidance as we “posed” throughout the day. We really look forward to an opportunity to work with Dustin again!

Basically, Dustin Cantrell is a trifecta of awesomeness, as another client put it:

Let me just start with the fact that Dustin is an amazing photographer. We just finished looking at our wedding photos and could not stop smiling. They really took us back to that beautiful day! I would have to give him 15 out of 5 stars; 5 for enthusiasm and passion for what he does, 5 for going above and beyond for us, and 5 for capability and talent. He rescued us about six weeks before our wedding when our original photographer wouldn’t get back to us, and really put us at ease. He captured our moments beautifully and vividly. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Thank you Dustin!

Love his work; I originally was trying to schedule him for my wedding, but we lollygagged and he got booked by the time we were ready to move forward. BUT — he is quick to respond, professional, kind, and his rates are INSANE(ly affordable) considering the quality of his work. (Since he got booked he referred us to a friend of his who is equally as talented, so it worked out in the end !)

A wedding is a ceremony where two people are united in marriage. Wedding traditions and customs vary greatly between cultures, ethnic groups, religions, countries, and social classes. Most wedding ceremonies involve an exchange of marriage vows by the couple, presentation of a gift (offering, ring(s), symbolic item, flowers, money), and a public proclamation of marriage by an authority figure. Special wedding garments are often worn, and the ceremony is sometimes followed by a wedding reception. Music, poetry, prayers or readings from religious texts or literature are also commonly incorporated into the ceremony.
