Why do you want to work with APW Couples?
I believe APW couples are down-to-earth, creative, and fun people who are looking to have a wedding that is unique and reflective of them. They also recognize that a wedding isn’t just about the day-of, but about a lifetime of marriage. My philosophy on weddings is the exactly the same – and I don’t think you have to spend thousands of dollars to make that happen. I think APW couples appreciate vendors that are real people, who work really hard, and don’t give into the Wedding Industrial Complex – who wouldn’t want to work with them?
Couples don’t NEED a planner or day-of coordinator, but having one can make many things easier. Need someone to run interference with your mom? To call the caterer when they are late? To keep you on track with ordering your invitations, or problem solve when things get stressful? I’ve got your back! The thing is, I’m not just a planner or day-of coordinator – I’m your emotional support person as well (I’m a trained MSW – it’s in my blood). I’m here not only to help you organize, plan, and execute the day seamlessly – but to be your advocate along the way.
Describe your artistic approach to weddings?
My approach is to get to know the couple, listen to their needs, and help them organize an amazing wedding that is reflective of them. It might be an intimate backyard affair or a large hotel bash, they may have spent $1,000 or $50,000 on it, or the bride might not wear white. It doesn’t matter to me – what matters to me is that the couple is able to enjoy the day and say, “that wedding was SO us!”
What are your non-work-related hobbies?
Hanging out with my girls (2 cats, a dog, and a few chickens) and husband, gardening, cooking, crafting, anything DIY, antique stores, drinking wine, reading books, good conversation with friends….in my “previous” life I was a river guide, so I also love anything in the outdoors (camping/rafting/exploring). I have lots of hobbies!
What’s your favorite book?
Desert Solitaire: A Season in the Wilderness by Edward Abbey. He was an amazing environmentalist, a crotchety old man, and waaaaay ahead of his time.
What’s your favorite movie?
Much to my husband’s dismay, I’m not a big movie person. However, I do love me some Downton Abbey!
If you could have a one minute dance party at your desk, what song would you pick?
I love all types of music so this changes day by day. But I’d have to say, LMFAO’s “Sexy and I Know It” works right now. Please don’t tell my husband. :)
