Why do you want to work with APW Couples?
APW Couples strike me as the type of people who appreciate a rockin' party, but also understand that a marriage extends way beyond the wedding day. I absolutely love when I develop a friendship with couples whose wedding I photographed and stay in touch with them long after their wedding is over, and I think I'll find that many times over at APW.
Describe your artistic approach to weddings?
I'd say the best word to describe my approach is "natural". I work in a photojournalistic style, capturing things exactly as they happen. I won't make you pretend to cut the cake when you're really not, and I don't set up photos to look the way I want them to. I strive to be as unobtrusive as possible while still capturing intimate moments throughout the day.
What are your non-work-related hobbies?
Honestly, photography is up there! I take photos for work, of course, but it gives me great pleasure to be behind the camera and I am rarely seen without one. I also love my two cats (one girl and one boy), my nerdy husband and Star Trek (Next Generation, Original Series and Voyager, in that order). I'm a big David Lynch fan, I drool over David Duchovny, and I could eat guacamole all day long.
What's your favorite book?
I sadly haven't had much time to read since I started my business, but the one book that keeps calling me back is "A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius" by Dave Eggers. Love that man.
What's your favorite movie?
There are far too many to count, and there's no way I could play favorites, but some of the greats are The NeverEnding Story, Dancer in the Dark, Hellraiser (mostly just 1 & 2), John Carpenter's The Thing, Hook, Wild at Heart, Papillon, Poltergeist and Ferngully.
If you could have a one minute dance party at your desk, what song would you pick?
Gwen Stefani's "What You Waiting For" !!!
