Why do you want to work with APW Couples?
I love APW couples, they’re my absolute favorite clients. They get me, I get them, we have a very good time together! I get that weddings can be a big production or they can be a small get together and each one I’m happy with!
Describe your artistic approach to weddings?
My main focus is the couple! I love to photograph people in love and show them that particular love in any way. Sometimes it’s a quiet moment, sometimes it’s a big moment, sometimes it something that I never thought. What I do is relaxed portraiture, I enjoy putting my couples in good light and good surroundings and let them be who they are. If something is stiff, we move on, I want to capture the way you are naturally with your new spouse, so while I don’t just send you into a field and let you fend for yourselves, I do give some guidance whenever I need to! I get all the standard stuff: the dress, the details, the centerpieces, the cake and the formal portraits and I make time for those too but the images that speak to me are the ones I can’t control. And that’s where I find the beauty in life, in the moments you didn’t know happened.
What are your non-work-related hobbies?
Does chasing after my crazy little boys count? If so, then that. These days I’m building giant lego houses, stacking blocks, watching some sweet Disney shows and more. But when they sleep (or someone watches them) I really enjoy sewing! I love making things for people and coming up with patterns! I also really enjoy baking and cooking (but I could totally do without the dishes). My last favorite past time is being overly sarcastic to my darling husband, we have more fun with this than I care to admit!
What’s your favorite book?
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom (see above, I can’t even tell you the last real book I read, but I can sing this book pretty darn well).
What’s your favorite movie?
Love Actually. I love the different story lines and how everything wraps up in the end whether it’s the happy ending or just the new beginning!
If you could have a one minute dance party at your desk, what song would you pick?
Shake it off. I don’t want to admit this, but it’s true. And I will continue liking this song. I feel like I shouldn’t like Taylor Swift, but I’m really digging this last album!
