Heather McBride Photography
Heather is a gifted photographer whose work captures special, candid moments. My husband and I worked with her for our wedding reception and she took such great care in getting to know us as a couple and the kind of photos and experience we wanted to have. She doesn't speed through clients, she is purposeful and present—she even sent us a sweet card in the mail leading up to the big day! We really appreciated the flexibility of her services and relaxed, yet totally on it presence. We can't stop smiling when we look at our photos. When we met all we said we wanted was the photos to capture how the day felt. She delivered and then some.
Ya girl loves to travel. I offer no travel fees if you're up to 60 miles from Philly. Anything over that is negotiable, and I offer special rates to APW readers!
Elopements? Yes PLEASE!!! Again, I love traveling, so any excuse I get to do it I will welcome it gladly. I offer hourly rates for intimate weddings and all of my packages can be adjusted to fit your needs.

Describe your business in 1-3 short sentences.
Photography has the amazing ability to make you feel seen and known. My goal is to capture your wedding day in such a way that you don’t just remember what it looked like, but you remember what it felt like. From those first few moments in your wedding dress, to tearing up the dance floor during those last few songs of the night, I’ll be there capturing it all without being all up in your face.
Why do you want to work with APW couples?
You probably already know this, but APW readers have got it going on!!! Being able to align with your clients in more ways than one is so important to me. Diversity and inclusion is so important to me, and if you are looking through APW, my guess is that it is important to you too!
What is your artistic approach to weddings?
I would say that my specialty is capturing the feeling of the day. Not just the pretty stuff, I’m gonna get all of it. There are a lot of emotions flying around on a wedding day, and I want to be there to get all of it. Cranky flower girl pouting down the aisle, groom shooting out a snot rocket because he is crying so hard, mother of the bride tearing up the dance floor and singing her heart out, I’ve captured it all and I deliver it all too because we are real people with real emotions and isn’t that way more fun than posing for stiff photos for hours? I sure think so.
What are your non-work-related hobbies?
It’s a pretty cool/weird thing when your hobby becomes your job, so I feel like I am still working on being a more well rounded human hobby-wise. I love hiking with my pup Tucker, bringing my hammock to the park with a good book, finding cool events happening in the city, making homemade milkshakes(you haven’t lived until you’ve made a pb&j milkshake with chocolate sauce. Stop reading and go do that now, you’ll thank me later), oh and watching way too much TV! It’s the golden age of television, so how can you not.
What's your favorite book?
My favorite genre is funny short stories(niche genre, I know), so Simon Rich is my all time favorite author and I’ve read everything he has ever written and it is too hard to pick just one! Another recommendation for you, go read his stuff if you like life and or fun.
What's your favorite movie?
My all-time favorite is Little Miss Sunshine. I love me a good dark comedy.
If you could have a one minute dance party at your desk, what song would you pick?
Basically, anything that Lizzo touches is pure dancing gold.

We couldn't be happier that we worked with Heather for our wedding. She made us feel totally comfortable, and it was a joy to hang out with her on our wedding day. The pictures are everything we could have imagined and more; she truly captured us at our best (and we're normally camera-shy!). We will treasure the photos for the rest of our lives. She also got us the "highlights" (75 photos!) within three days. A true artist and a great person. Thank you, Heather!
I was really intimidated going into booking a photographer for our wedding because I knew I didn't want to do some of the more traditional things like a lot of detail shots or poses that didn't feel like us. Then I found Heather and immediately loved her style and vibe. She encouraged us to do our own thing; say no to detail shots/getting ready pictures I didn't want, sneak in pictures before the ceremony so we could live it up at cocktail hour, incorporate our dog. I know it's not a photographer's job to be a source of support the day of, but I really did feel so safe in her hands. She was so relaxed and upbeat. She gave amazing direction that made us feel at ease and then she worked her magic capturing so many pure and authentic moments. We're not a huge "picture couple", but I was straight up giddy when she sent over our highlight pictures ( ahead of schedule!). She is a true professional and true gem. I cannot recommend her enough!

Heather shot our wedding and did nothing short of an amazing job. Heather is remarkably personable, which is an invaluable skill for a photographer in getting genuine emotions and expressions in her subjects. Heather was incredibly easy to work with and absolutely went above and beyond in order to make our day special and capture all the specific things we wanted. She provided excellent guidance for us to get some truly beautiful shots that we will cherish forever. I can't imagine anyone doing a better job than Heather and we would absolutely recommend her for whatever occasion you need a top notch photographer.
Nothing in the slightest. Heather is the best!
Hiring Heather was absolutely one of the best decisions we made in planning our wedding. I am very uncomfortable in front of the camera, so I was truly dreading wedding photos. Heather made the whole process so approachable, and she put me at ease even before we met in person. She was receptive to my ideas and never pressured me in any way. We decided to do family portraits before the rehearsal dinner, a somewhat unconventional choice, but she was all for it! On the day of the wedding, we asked for a documentary approach with a couple of quick portraits just after the ceremony. Looking through our photos was so joyful; Heather captured all of the moments I wanted to remember, but she also caught so many smiles, gestures, laughs, hugs, and moments of private intimacy and friendship among our guests. All in all, I really can't recommend Heather enough. She is professional but friendly and just plain cool. We would absolutely love to work with her in future.
Heather was INCREDIBLE. She shot my wedding day photos and was so easygoing and professional. The pictures came out incredible and she was so lovely I wish I'd hired her for the entire wedding day instead of a few hours so she could enjoy herself. She's great at direction and concept without ever making you feel cheesy or contrived. 10 out of 10 hands down.
Creative! Relaxed Professional Kind Fun Communicative Quick
Heather was AMAZING from start to finish. My husband and I hired her to do our engagement photos about a year ago and didn’t hesitate to hire her again for our wedding. The photos came out absolutely gorgeous and she is extremely professional. Such a great person to work with!
Heather shot our engagement photos and then did our wedding. She is amazing! Not only is she really chill and great to work with, but the pictures turned out even better than I anticipated. She really listened and captured the vibe we were going for. Not only that, but she really has an eye for candid photos and some of those were my absolute favorites. I would recommend her to anyone and am definitely going to be booking again when we start a family!
A wedding is a truly special day and I wanted someone amazing to capture it for me. Heather will be great at any shoot you book her for: she makes you feel comfortable, relaxed, confident, and has fun during your session. I am so happy with how all of our photos turned out! I am glad I have these beautiful pictures to remember my wedding and to be able to share them proudly with my friends and family. Thanks so much, Heather! You're an incredible photographer and woman and I am lucky to know you.
