We love Jana! She captured the very essence of our wedding, and she did it all by herself, because her assistant fell ill the day before our wedding. She was incredibly communicative and supportive from our very first call all the way through sending over the final edits of our photos. We loved spending time with her, as did all of our guests; she is grounded, kind, and down-to-earth, not to mention super fun and also professional! After looking through countless vendor profiles, we knew we had to go with Jana because of her small business model, the extremely high caliber of her work, and her amazingly chill-yet-highly-efficient vibe (Jana, we are in awe!). If you’re hoping for a photographer who will catch all the best candid shots and the most genuine moments, look no further than River Medlock Photography. Seriously, we feel like we’ve gained a friend from this wonderful experience!

This review is long overdue, but here it is! Jana and Jamie were the perfect team to work with for both our engagement shoot and wedding. I'll take a second and describe each of the events, and why Jana and Jamie were wonderful to work with. Our engagement shoot was at a park we had never visited before, so we searched online for some photo op spots. We shared them beforehand and they fit the spots into an entire photo walk planned for us. We never had professional photos done before, so they gave us guidance on what to keep in mind when choosing our outfits. They were both fun, attentive, and had a great sense of humor --- it made us feel completely at ease. It was clear that they love what they do and paid careful attention to capturing every detail in every interaction. The finished shots were spectacular! Our wedding consisted of three events: a Mehendi/cocktail party on one day and two separate wedding ceremonies on another day. It was a lot to plan for logistically, and they were both very helpful in determining time slots for all of our photos. Since we had a winter wedding in a greenhouse settting, they helped us think through how we could take maximum advantage of the limited sun we'd have during the day. For the cocktail party, Jana covered the whole event solo. Through her photos, both my wife and I were able to experience interactions with family members and friends that we didn't even get to in person. Jana's photos were that good! She was also jovial, patient, and arrived right on time. I don't even have the words for our wedding. From the very beginning, Jana made the day as fun, stress-free, and memorable as possible. She met my wife early in the morning to capture her "getting-ready" shots with her bridal party. During both ceremonies, she and an associate (Nicole, also terrific!) captured every important interaction among family and friends. Despite it being a full day of ceremonies, Jana caught every moment without fail -- if she was tired, she did not show it at all! Our reception was full of fun and dancing. My wife and I lamented, before getting our photos, that we didn't even get a chance to see all of our guests. But thanks to Jana's photos, we got to see all of them dancing and having the time of their lives. If you're looking for a photographer, look no further. All of the photos made us feel as if we could relive the event just by looking at them. We cannot recommend River Medlock enough. Thank you Jana and Jamie!

We found Jana through A Practical Wedding and she has been an absolute dream to work with. We met a lot of other photographers who tried to sell us bundled packages and impress is with their "passion" for our love story. But, Jana made us feel immediately comfortable around her and we laughed at how goofy the wedding industry is. She gives you several hundred high quality images one month after your wedding and has a very straight-forward pricing model – which in my eyes, is a bargain. Jana says that she loves weddings and her passion and her artistry for her work is evident. She takes beautiful documentary style photographs that you will treasure forever and is always scouting for the right angle to capture a perfect moment. She is talented at posing people and making them feel comfortable in front of the camera and captured so many sensitive moments during our wedding day without being intrusive. She has a true gift. With River Medlock photography, you will have no regrets -- Jana is kind, friendly and will capture of the magic of your day in a way that you never thought was possible. We met her in San Diego for our engagement shoot and she also gave us a wonderful burger recommendations. I would recommend working with Jana 1000 times over!

Jana and Jamie did a great job capturing our small wedding ceremony. I first found them on APW and I'm glad I did. The photos were just as vibrant and beautiful as I was hoping. Our guests remarked on how friendly our photographers were and how great they were with the children. They were very easy to work with and put us at ease. Thank you for the gorgeous photos. We highly recommend Jana and Jamie.

Jana and Jamie are a MAGNIFICENT TEAM and so wonderful to work with! Having a good photographer was one of our top priorities and we formed an immediate connection after speaking to them. They shot our wedding so effortlessly and were extremely patient with our giant bridal party and made us feel comfortable as they guided us through the shots. Looking through the photos I was surprised at how often I didn't even know pictures were being taken. They even went out of their way to find the PERFECT first look spot which we didn't even think of. I mean, on top of the hotel helicopter pad is pretty BAD ASS! If you want someone to capture raw intimate moments that you can hold onto forever and love then they are the perfect match for you. I can FINALLY say we have our photographers for life to capture all major moments.

This is a long overdue review, but here is it! We absolutely LOVE Jana and Jamie! We met them through my brother and sister-in-law who booked them for an engagement shoot in the Bay Area. We loved how their photos turned out, so we too booked them for our engagement shoot in San Diego and wedding in San Luis Obispo. It was seriously the best and easiest decision we made throughout the planning process. Upon meeting them at the engagement shoot, we were instantly greeted with hugs and knew right away that this felt good. They are so cool and down to earth, it made taking photos so comfortable and easy. Wedding day was perfect with them! They got all the shots we wanted and more. We were also so impressed and surprised with the clear umbrellas they provided us when it started raining unexpectedly! It made such fun shots! We can’t thank them enough for capturing our special day and letting us relive the moments through their photos! We highly recommend Jana and Jamie! They are so talented and will exceed your expectations! Can’t wait to use them in the future!

Okay, I'm going to try not to cry happy tears while I write this. Jaime and Jana are phenomenal. From the moment I met Jana on Skype she was there to answer any question I had and was always prompt to do so. Their website is so professional and their photo questionnaire really gave me peace of mind that they would capture our wedding just the way we wanted. I fell in love their their photos and just knew I had to work with them. The day before my wedding they went out to the winery and looked around to plan out where the best lighting and background would be, without me asking them to do so. And without even sharing that they did. It wasn’t until the venue owners relayed the message that we knew they had done this. The owners were impressed that they did this. After they showed up, Jamie was with the boys and Jana was with the girls. (We didn't want a first look so we had to stay completely separate the whole day!) Jana felt like part of the family. She was so professional and just teeming with joy. There are a few candid photos that my mom took and you can just see her smiling at her camera in the background. It felt like I had a friend in the room with Jana there. She was so sweet, constantly showering me and my friends in compliments all while being so professional and making sure to communicate my vision and hers. It was a blast having her photograph my bridal prep. When I met Jaime he was just the same; an absolute processional and joy. And let me tell you, this couple works in glorious tandem. Jana would take close up photos, make sure we all still looked good, directed us to stay as we were and then Jaime would take a larger photo. We had a large bridal part of 15 people so it was a challenge and they made it seem like a piece of cake. They also made sure we stayed on time and captured all the moments we wanted. They also coordinated our large bridal groups so that Carson wouldn't see me before the ceremony. The entire night they worked tireless to capture every single moment... I haven't even seen my photos yet, but I know they will be perfect. Thank you so much Jana and Jamie for being a part of the new start of an amazing chapter in our life. It was an honor and a joy to have you guys there. If anyone is looking for quality service from people whole are passionate and extremely good at their job, please please, book River Medlock Photography... you will be taken care of from start to finish. I cannot say enough good things. I received my wedding photos exactly a month out from the wedding. I was actually sitting in social services changing my name and I used the wait to look at and soak in every photo. I sat there balling like a baby. A big happy baby. All I can say is is Thank you thank you!! We feel as though you're both part of our extended family now. We hope to book them again for any future event and recommend them strongly to all couples. Jana and Jamie went above and beyond expectations for our photoshoot. We were hesitant at first to do an engagement session because we were so far out and close to the wedding already but were very glad we ended up doing photos. 1. Jana and Jamie reached out to the venue to schedule for us 2. They were extremely professional, easy to work with and the two of them work so well together (photos of them working together to be posted on yelp) 3. we also had our dog with us for our photos. Not only did they work seamlessly with us, they were able to work so well with our pup. 4. The poses and shots they took felt quite unique and were not the standard cliche engagement photos. I love all of our action shots 5. If i could rate 10 stars I would, This sit only lets us do 5. 6. My only regret is that we didn’t find them sooner before booking our wedding photographer.

Jana and Jaime delivered absolutely above and beyond our expectations. I cannot imagine our wedding day without them there! From the smallest details to being patient and understanding with us throughout the day, they were loved by everyone and I am so grateful for their skillful eye. We were married at SF City Hall and held the reception at Stable Cafe. The communication in advance was extremely helpful and they made sure to capture all of our requests. As two people who don't like being photographed it felt very natural to work with them. I highly recommend their services for any occasion!

We had Jana and Jamie photograph our wedding weekend in France and it was the best decision we've made. Their professionalism, patience (answering my endless questions!) and approachable nature meant we could really relax and enjoy our event and not have to think too hard about posing for shots. Having followed us on our journey, we felt they were more like friends. And the results are stunning too, every photo is thoughtful and well composed, capturing the mood perfectly and many looked like something straight out of a film set! We're so grateful to them for helping making our special day even more memorable.

We hired River Medlock for our wedding and they were really fantastic, very generous with their time and the final photos came out beautiful. We loved that the style is a little more artsy than some other wedding photographers out there - every frame looked beautiful and well-composed. They were easy to communicate with, reliable, and made everyone feel comfortable during the photo taking sessions. Everyone at my wedding commented on how nice and friendly our photographers were! Also the price was very reasonable, especially since you get fully edited digital photos that you can use to print whatever you want and you can share the photos freely with all your guests. I don't like that a lot of photographers keep high res photos captive unless you pay an extra printing fee or you get your photo album printed through them. I highly recommend this company for capturing your special moments!!

I feel so lucky that Jana and Jamie agreed to shoot my engagement photos. This duo knows how to make every shot just a little more magical. They have an innate sense of what works and captures even the smallest of moments beautifully. My fiance and I have never had professional photos taken, so naturally we were nervous and worried about looking awkward in front of the camera. But within 5 minutes of meeting Jana and Jamie, all of that worry melted away. They are so relaxed, easy to talk to, and give amazing direction. We were blown away when we received our photos back. I would recommend River Medlock 10000000 times over!

They far exceeded our expectations on both occasions and hold a very special place in our hearts.
