APW Happy Hour

Something woo woo this way comes

Hey APW,

For as long as I can remember, I have been into really weird stuff. I used to watch the psychic network when I stayed home sick from school. I got my first tarot set in middle school (pre-internet so I never figured out how to use it). I was obsessed with astrology. And at one point I think I tried to learn how to read palms. I was into ghosts, witches, astral projection—basically anything even a little woo woo.

So it’s been incredibly fun and kind of soul affirming watching all of that weird stuff come back around and gain a tiny bit of cool factor thanks to Instagram. (I’m pretty sure the Instagram astrologers I follow saved me from myself a handful of times last year.) And last weekend, I got to go see none other than psychic medium Jessica Lanyadoo in action at San Francisco’s delightfully weird Golden Gate Spiritualist Church. She gave readings to a handful of the 150+ people who showed up, including Meg and myself. It was intense and vulnerable, but also a little bit like getting to meet your childhood hero all grown up and discovering that they were as cool as you always thought they were.

So I think I’m starting 2019 off on the right foot. (Though talk to me in two weeks, because I’m about to go on back-to-back trips out of town with a toddler in tow. So I may change my tune come the end of February.)

And with that, it’s your happy hour, so do your thing.

Cheers,

Maddie

P.S. Thanks to everyone who gave me baby clothing pattern advice the other week. I am in the middle of a pair of denim and gold lamé joggers right now that I look forward to sharing with you.
