We ran out of Whiskey Sours, and had to send out for more whiskey. My grandfather toasted us, my father cried for only the second time I’ve ever seen him, and my mother spoke French for our new in-laws. Plus: poutine!
I feel like people must get tired of my saying it, but the weather we had on the Sunday we married played such a big part in making it a special day. It had been overcast or outright rainy all the previous week—no surprise for mid-October in the Northeast. That on the afternoon of Sunday it was brilliantly sunny and mild enough to warrant short sleeves still astounds me. And then, as we returned home the next day, we drove through fog and cold and rain.
