One sentence sum-up of the wedding vibe: AWESOME. (No, seriously; the day was full of family and friends bursting with happiness. And food.)
Soundtrack for reading: “Jenny” by The Mountain Goats
OTHER COOL STUFF WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT
Looking back, I think the coolest parts about the wedding were the homemade things, despite the time they took.
My mom, grandmother, and I (Rachel) have all grown plants taken from each other’s gardens for years, so we thought it was appropriate to pass them on to our friends and family. We spent a year collecting succulent cuttings from our garden for favors, and one of the most fun things since the wedding has been receiving updates from guests on the status of “their plant.” We had a blast putting together pew flowers and centerpieces at Repetto’s in Half Moon Bay, covering ourselves with glitter (unintentionally) while making signs and table numbers, and making a kick-ass wedding playlist with every song we love dancing to.
I thought there would be no time to incorporate our own crafts and talents into our wedding, but we ended up making the time… and it was totally worth it.
FAVORITE THING ABOUT THE WEDDING
Rachel: Big picture—That was the first time we’d had all our friends, family, and community in one place. Little thing—the drive from the church to the reception. George: The reception, dancing, and talking to lots of peeps.
