Q: APW, I need you!
Okay, so my situation is this: My partner and I have a lot family who live in our countries of origin (#firstgenproblems), so we’re having a traditional wedding overseas. That celebration is going to have a lot of family “input.” To counter that, we’d like to do something intimate, fun, and entirely ours in the country we live in—we want to elope. We can go anywhere in the grand ole US of A. What’s the best place to elope? Ideally, we’d like to go somewhere we can spend the weekend for less than $150 a night… without camping. (Seriously, no camping. I’m not very good at roughing it, but especially not when I want to get fancy!) And preferably a place we can enjoy a short, relaxing honeymoon after the ceremony. We’re looking for a hidden gem that begs for a couple to come and exchange some vows! (And maybe with a real pretty backdrop for photos.) I want to know about mountaintops and waterfalls, vineyards and hot springs, caverns and forests, rooftops and abandoned chapels—anywhere that’s truly special. We’re ready to make some serious memories, and I feel like you all would know where the best spots are.
LET’s do this, APW HIVEMIND! What are your favorite local spots that might be worth a visit for some NUPTIALS? Destination elopements are totally a thing, right? Let’s give them a massive list of off-the-beaten-path treasures. Oh, and let’s try to make sure it’s not a place that attracts tons of tourists (you know, for the “intimate” aspect).
