Getting started wedding planning is a little like walking around your house with all the lights off. You have a vague idea of where you’re headed, and at the same time, there’s this creeping sensation that the next step you take might be your undoing (who put that wall there?). If this sounds like you, then hooray! You’re officially planning a wedding. Here at APW, we try to guide you through the early stages of wedding planning with as much logistical advice as possible (so that you don’t make the same mistakes we did). But having been the first in my friend group to get married (by about five years), I know that sometimes when you are just starting wedding planning, what you need isn’t logistical advice. What you need is a friend group filled with people who are also planning weddings—attentive ears from couples in the same boat as you, who you can kvetch with, and tell all your awesome ideas to, and ask all the planning questions that you’re afraid your not-wedding-planning friends will think are boring. So today we’re opening up this post to check in with you guys and see where you’re at. Lay it all on us. Are you stuck at a planning impasse? Having trouble getting off the ground? Alternatively, do you have awesome advice from your wedding planning adventures that you want to share with the newly engaged? (And those of you who have been lurking, trying to work up the nerve to leave your first comment? This is a great time to come out of the woodwork.)
