OTHER COOL STUFF WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT

We met in university nine years ago. We were both fine art students. Pok was shy, but when he smiled he had two charming dimples. We both love hiking and natural landscapes. Being from Hong Kong, we wanted to escape the crowd and summer heat. We loved the idea of visiting Iceland and spending time together in a beautiful location but didn’t like the idea of saving money, and not touching it, to use it for only one special wedding day.

Traveling and seeing the world was more of a priority for us, so having an intimate celebration with just us two in Iceland seemed like the perfect fit. We tried to be honest with ourselves, and simplify the unnecessary.

FAVORITE THING ABOUT THE WEDDING

I think the meeting of all of us in Iceland is a crazy twist of fate. We saw through Instagram that Jess of Daring Wanderer Photography would be in Iceland at the exact time we planned on heading there from Hong Kong. Naturally we got in touch to ask if she and Matt would document our elopement.

Another favorite moment would be when Pok and Matt were playing football (soccer) after the shoot in a remote town in northern Iceland. What a coincidence that they both have such a passion and love for the sport. It was amazing to watch the one you love, doing his favorite thing with a new friend from the other side of the world.

the photo on the cliff in the mist? Whoa.

That was my thought when I saw the fog rolling over the mountain. Lesson: always trust your gut. We followed a windy gravel road up the side of the mountain to the top and those images are some of my favourite!

We honeymooned in Iceland this past May and it was the BEST decision we ever made! We’re dying to go back! Maybe sometime in mid/late October to hopefully see the Northern Lights. We used the hosteling system there and loved it. We even got our rental car through them and it all worked out beautifully!

I’m super-jealous that you eloped there! Such a hauntingly beautiful country! Congratulations!

Waaaahh! I don’t have a wedding to plan, can I just move to Iceland and shoot weddings there full time? I want to go back so badly.

  • Fantastic offer for all of you to make $5000 to $8000 every month….It’s easy just have a internet connection and a p.c to earn money

Hey! Lovely post, thanks for sharing! My partner and I are eloping in Iceland as well, and wondering about paperwork. Did you guys manage the paperwork yourselves, or did you hire a planner to help with that?
