One sentence sum up of the wedding vibe: A beautifully relaxed wedding on a perfect, golden Melbourne day, surrounded by friends, family, and an abundance of flowers.

Other cool stuff we should know about: Adam and I had the most perfect wedding, mostly because the most important thing to us was actually getting married! The wedding was a wonderful way to share that celebration with our nearest and dearest, and celebrate we did! We were blessed with the most glorious springtime sunshine, and our family and friends showered us in love. It was so important to us to create a relaxed wedding, with emphasis on good food, lovely wine, and keeping it real and simple. Almost everything we bought for the wedding was handmade, either by friends and family or purchased on Etsy (that website is like bridal crack, once you start it’s so hard to stop!), and we supported local businesses and vendors as much as possible. Whatever we could do ourselves, we did—the bridal party hair and makeup, the wedding favours, and many of the decorations were DIY. Adam’s cousin took the gorgeous pictures, and a dear friend played all the tunes we danced to and enjoyed all day. All in all, it was a very special day and we’ll always remember how it felt to look out over the sun setting on the valley mountains and think, “We got married today, aren’t we lucky!”

Favorite thing about the wedding: Our rustic venue, the spring flowers, and the smiles on our faces when we were pronounced husband and wife.

Everything is beautiful, but mostly I love all the laughing.

Also, your minister is wearing the wildest robe I’ve ever seen.

    • Another Meg

I had to look back at the minister’s robe. That is amazing. Gorgeous wedding!

  • Oh my goodness, how beautiful! I love it!! Congratulations. :) Also, I love this line: “All in all, it was a very special day and we’ll always remember how it felt to look out over the sun setting on the valley mountains and think, “We got married today, aren’t we lucky!”” … because that is exactly how I feel about our wedding day.

      • One More Sara

        Welcome! Congrats on de-lurking ;)

    • Caitlyn

Thanks Lou! I would highly recommend getting married in a winery (and we are so lucky to have such a beautiful wine region in Melbourne). It was so beautiful and relaxed, and I’m sure the landscape has a calming effect on those inevitable wedding day nerves. Best of luck with your planning!

  • Brooke

Another thumbs up for a Melbourne/Aussie wedding! Congratulations!! As a local gal I recall visiting this winery some years ago and thinking….”This would be a nice place for a wedding…” and from the look of your joy-filled photos it definitely was!

    • Caitlyn

Thanks so much Brooke! It was such a great place to get married. Rustic, relaxed and the most amazing backdrop for a wedding anyone could ask for. I grew up about 10 minuets away from Yering, so it was very special for that reason too :) x

  • Rosie

Gorgeous wedding! And I loved your dress. Would you mind sharing the designer?

    • Caitlyn

Hi there Rosie, my dress and sash both came from an Aussie designer called Lisa Ho. She does some lovely work! Thanks for your lovely compliment too. I can also tell you that the dress was so comfortable and easy to wear, and that is the most important thing!

  • Hannah

Ohh…this is perfect. Wow. Beautiful doesn’t seem to cut it.
