Brides wearing their mom’s wedding dresses isn’t exactly a new thing in weddings (we’ve even had a dress that survived three generations of wearing right here on APW), but when we saw Gwyneth pop up on Lucille Lawrence‘s Instagram feed last month, wearing her mom’s red paisley dress from the ’70s, we knew we had to try and get the original photos and the story to go with them. Here’s what Gwyneth had to say about wearing her mom’s dress (at seven and a half months pregnant!):
“The dress was inspired by a trip to the Renaissance Pleasure Faire and the pattern created from a shorter dress my mother owned and took apart for a guide. She made her first trip to Britex in San Francisco for the fabric and buttons. It is still in great shape after 45 years, and we had it expertly altered for my wedding to fit my growing baby belly. I can’t imagine a more perfect dress for me and the history and love that had already been put into it by my mother just made it all the more special.”
You know how we’re always saying that your wedding isn’t timeless and that’s a good thing? Well this is basically all the evidence you need right here.
