Let’s Gape at the Stunning Flowers in This $2K New Orleans Wedding

Go Big or Go Really Big Easy

Kayla, floral designer & alan, grocery store manager

sum-up of the wedding vibe: Our wedding was an intimate celebration of our lives together, the family we have made, and the people that support us.

Planned Budget: $2,000
Actual Budget: $2,000
Number of Guests: 30
Location: New Orleans City Park, New Orleans, Louisiana
Photography: Sharon Pye

Where we allocated the most funds:

We allocated equal parts to our clothing, the florals, and our photographer. I definitely knew I did not want a traditional wedding dress. Seeing that this mauve beaded beauty had appliquéd florals and tassels, I knew it was the one. Our little girls’ linen dresses were handmade by my mother, who also embroidered our wedding date on them. These dresses will be keepsakes of that special day forever. As a floral designer, I was giddy to be able to purchase all of my favorite flowers. Daffodils, sweet peas, butterfly ranunculus, and spirea were all in season, which made me so happy! It was such a special treat to be able to work on our wedding flowers.

Where we allocated the least funds:

We reserved seating at a local restaurant, Parkway Bakery and Tavern, where everyone could pay for their own meal. This allowed for a laid-back vibe and helped with budget. The bride’s mother also purchased the cake and favors.

What was totally worth it:

Having a short and sweet ceremony with just close friends and family! We were able to spend quality time with everyone.

What was totally not worth it:

Being stressed out about any aspect prior to the day. Once the day came, we were just so overjoyed to be getting married that stress was the last thing on our minds!

A few things that helped us along the way:

I am a floral designer and work in the wedding industry. I definitely felt like I had insight to what would be the least stressful ceremony. We also had a photographer who we really trusted; she has shot our family a few times and we just love her vibe.

Favorite thing about the wedding:

Our favorite part of the day was being able to be present in the moments. We also loved the setting in City Park. We have so many great memories there and it was so sweet to have our ceremony in a place that meant so much to us.

Anything else:

We are so thankful for everyone who came together to make this day so fun and special.
