Other Cool Stuff We Should Know About

Three of our bridesmaids covered “Dimming of the Day” and make us weep like little babies. Our buddies read “The Missing Piece Meets the Big O” by Shel Silverstein, with illustrated note cards. Two family members read Pablo Neruda’s “Tu Risa (Your Laughter),” first in Spanish, then in English, to honor the languages spoken in our family. We also had a family member as our officiant, as we are not religious, but considered it very important to include our friends and family wherever we could as they make us who we are!

Our dance soundtrack was mostly Northern Soul, followed up by some serious jams like Santigold’s “Creator” at the end of the night when everyone was a bit toasty. We also made sure to include some Salsa tunes for all the amazing Salsa dancers within our families. The food was incredible. Our planner, Sarah Rosario, uses amazing caterers. Also, our family runs some Ben & Jerry’s stores on the island, so they donated a Ben & Jerry’s cart that was used all weekend—by the pool, by the ocean, on the dance floor… ice cream was EVERYWHERE!

We had the most amazing Maid of Honor and Best Man of all time. No contest. They were put to the test repeatedly and PREVAILED. Villa Tres Palmas was a great choice of location. Their staff goes above and beyond to make everyone happy. Plus, there’s an outdoor toilet on the deck of the master bedroom. You can use it while you stare at the ocean, and no one below can see you. That was pretty wonderful. Our photographers were the BEST. We wouldn’t change a thing.

When in doubt about whether or not to put gold beach balls in the pool: don’t be in doubt. DO IT! Those beach balls were one of the best choices we made.

Favorite Thing About the Wedding

Our favorite part of the wedding was, hands down, the ceremony. There was so much love everywhere. Our friends and family are just incredible human beings.
