Table numbers have an important job to do! While there are lots of cute, creative table number ideas floating around the Internets, this is an area where being clean, clear, and straightforward really doesn’t hurt. Especially in cases of large receptions with many tables, you don’t really need guests wandering around playing Eye-Spy trying to find where they’re sitting.

Escort cards and Place Cards:
Okay, here is the deal. While escort cards sound like some unnecessary relic of times past (and most people don’t even know what they are), they’re actually pretty essential to any reception with a seating plan. So let’s break it down really quick: escort cards are a flat card and help your guests figure out which table to sit at, while place cards are a folded or tented card to show them where their exact seat is. If you’re doing a served dinner, place cards are often just as crucial for the catering staff as for guests themselves. If you’re having a buffet dinner, typically you don’t need place cards. You can just use escort cards to direct guests to the right table, and your job is done.

Programs:
Do you need a wedding program? Only you know for sure. But if you’re having a type of ceremony (religious, non-traditional, etc.) that some of your guests might not be familiar with, a program is perfect for filling them in on the details of how things will run. In a religious ceremony this can be especially helpful, since you can print the words for prayers and songs, so everyone can join in. If you have an intricate ceremony, book-style programs hold tons of information without being a wall of text on one flat card.
If you want to share simpler information, like the words to a blessing or reading you’d like your guests to participate in, or if you want to call out special folks to the wedding that not everyone knows, a flat card program will get the job done in a beautiful way.
