Ben Kane brings epic photojournalism from Toronto to Vancouver and everywhere in between

Get excited, Canada, because Ben Kane Photography is back. Okay, I know, unless you’re a super-fan of wedding photographers, you’re probably like, “Ben who? Where’d he go?” Allow me to explain. We are all huge fans of longtime APW sponsor Ben Kane, and for good reason: His aesthetic is so awesome, Maddie coined the phrase “epic photojournalism” for it; he is committed to shooting all kinds of people having all kinds of weddings; and he manages to simultaneously capture both heartfelt emotion and epic beauty. Ben has been away from the world of weddings working on a special project for the last two years (more on that later), but now he’s back. Ben is so excited to be working with Canadian APWers again that he’s offering his signature full-service wedding photography (unlimited hours from getting ready to dancing the night away) from coast to coast, with full-day coverage beginning at $4,850 CAN (about $3,850 USD). wedding photography by ben kane photographywedding photography by ben kane photographywedding photography by ben kane photographywedding photography by ben kane photographySome photographers will be around for five hours for one rate, and eight hours for another, but Ben Kane doesn’t limit the time he has available for you and your day. He is always there all day, to capture every moment that matters (aka all of them):

I’ll start as early as you need and go as late as you need. Nearly all of my days are longer than twelve hours, because your day is longer than twelve hours. I’m never worried about how much work I’m doing. It’s my thing to be around as much as possible and constantly observing and ready for moments all day, not just at the expected formal times of the day, but the whole time. I’m constantly watching what’s happening, and at the same time looking for creative ways to make something happen. I think it’s that being ready, being “on,” that gets me the shots that others might miss.

I want to be around as much as possible. Getting-ready shots might not be the kind of photos you prioritize, but it lets me get to know everybody early, in an informal setting, and helps set the tone for the day. When everyone’s comfortable, the shots are better, and the wedding day is more fun. And I hate to leave a reception early… who knows what might happen as the night goes on?

The result of spending all this time with Ben? You get so many more photos, of so many more moments like these:wedding photography by ben kane photographywedding photography by ben kane photographywedding photography by ben kane photographywedding photography by ben kane photographywedding photography by ben kane photographywedding photography by ben kane photographywedding photography by ben kane photographyPlus (here is the cool project he’s been off doing) Ben is so chill to have around that Rachel Brathen (better known as @yoga_girl on Instagram) asked him to be her full-time photographer after he shot her wedding. Over the past two years, Ben has photographed her bestselling book, produced videos for her website oneOeight, and documented her book launch, yoga retreats, and travels. Basically, if Ben is the kind of person you can have follow you around for two years and still love, the twelve hours of your wedding will be a blast.yoga girl photography by ben kane photographyyoga girl photography by ben kane photographyyoga girl photography by ben kane photographyBut don’t just take our word for it. Here’s what Ben’s wedding clients have to say about working with him:

We are SO happy we had Ben take our pictures at our wedding. My husband Jerry (an architect) was picky about who to hire to capture the events… he looked at tons of photographers, but knew immediately once he saw Ben’s work that he was the one. Ben has a great ability to capture the moment… yes, there are posed pictures, but he looks for the more organic things unfolding. His work is stunning. I have only looked through a handful of the pictures so far and am already beyond happy!! He was great to talk through the process, always responding to our inquiries and getting a sense of what we wanted. He felt like part of our family.
