Evangeline Lane is one of those photographers who manages to slay every single wedding she shoots. You guys know this is true because you’ve seen her work over and over on APW (whether or not you realized it). She’s just good. Not many photographers can coax the perfect degree of natural light out of a fading sunset, or turn a blue sky into the most luxurious backdrop, all while capturing you looking natural and hella in love. We’d say that Evangeline is kind of like the Queen Bee/Wonder Woman of taking the kind of romantic photos you’d want to put in a magazine:
Evangeline is a wonder at bringing on the feels when you least expect it (or when it’s all you want) in a visible, tangible, hold-me-close-I-just-love-you-so-much way. And all those emotions come in a very dependable package. She’s always been one to go above and beyond for her clients’ comfort, but since she’s been engaged, she gets why that matters even more:
I really do love that I’m invited into someone’s life during one of the most meaningful, exciting, and even stressful times. Often I am told that the one thing my client was sure of and could count on, the one saving grace of sorts, during the wedding planning time was me. Whoa, right? I always took that to heart, but I don’t think I understood the true depth of that statement until we got engaged and I found our photographer. I feel the same way about him.
And if you’re wondering how she gets photos like this:
And this:
And this:
It’s because her approach to shooting is this:
I’m always told that I capture people so well, in a way that’s uniquely them, followed by something along the lines of, “I’m camera shy; I won’t look like them,” or “I don’t look good when I smile like your other clients do.” To which I say: almost every single person you see says the same thing to me! I think I’m good at making people feel comfortable with me and not pressured. We take a stroll together, we chat, they talk among themselves and I sit back and watch… and wait… for that perfect moment. I can often anticipate things before they happen, which enables me to capture the real moments, the real love, the joy, and the tenderness that usually only happens when no one else is watching.
In fact, Evangeline is so good at what she does, that she even took her own engagement photos. Do you know how hard that is? (Imagine how much work it is to get the perfect selfie, but on steroids with a self timer.) Except, when Evangeline Lane does it, they come out looking like this:
And if that’s what she can do with her own photos, when she’s not even behind the camera, imagine what she can do for you.
So if you’ve been scouring the Internet for the perfect-for-you wedding photographer—you know, the one who connects with you in an emotional sphere and transcends the usual couple–wedding vendor relationship—then you’ve probably already realized you’ve found her.
