Once upon a time, I scoffed at the idea of sending out holiday cards. What was the point? (Hipster Maddie is too cool for your traditions.) But then I moved three thousand miles away from all my friends and family. And as we make the hard decision each year about whether or not we’ll be trekking home to spend the holidays with our families, it makes me feel a little closer to the people I love when the envelopes start to arrive and my wall is filled with smiling faces of friends and family and babies and puppies. And now? I’m a full-on convert. I mean, who wouldn’t want this to show up at their doorstep? (Hint: Adorable cowboy boots are the property of Meg’s kids.)
But it wasn’t until we started working with Minted that I actually began to enjoy the process of making our own holiday cards. Minted makes it easy for me to send out cards that look like I spent a lot of time on them, even when I didn’t. They even print the recipient addresses for me for free, because I am lazy and these cards would not get sent out otherwise.
And because Minted’s designs are all A+, I get to spend my time taking a silly family portrait every year, instead of wasting hours trying to find a design I like. Behold, last year’s card (photo courtesy of Najva, smoke bomb courtesy of a very reluctant Michael):
And a strong contender for this year’s:
But even if you don’t have friends you can harass into taking your picture, or a paint ball store that just happens to carry smoke bombs, Minted still has you covered. They’ve got beautiful non-photo cards, plus foil-printed cards, and letterpress cards that basically do all the work for you. And if you want to get really custom? Minted will let you turn your (or your kid’s) art into a completely custom holiday card. So if you’ve just got your wedding photos back and you’re looking for an excuse to show them off, here are thirty-five of our favorite Minted designs this year.
P.S. I want to see your holiday cards, guys! Can we turn the comments into a virtual mantle, please?
