Q:I have a question about holiday cards. I grew up in a family where we never made holiday cards. Instead of a mass mailing, my mom would simply buy a pack of cards she liked, then write personal notes to a few people. In my single life, I did the same thing. But now that we are married, my husband and I would like to do a more traditional holiday card.
The list of family and friends who we’d like to send cards to is much longer than I could handle for personalized notes. (After all, we just finished our wedding thank yous!) It’s our first holiday season married and I’d like some advice on the holiday card. How do you write a short note about your year appropriate for a hundred people? What do I do with the name section where it normally says “From the ___ Family” because I kept my name? Any words of wisdom about choosing a photo? (Is it weird to use a wedding photo?) Advice on the best companies to use?
Advice from the editor:
Lucky for you, there are so many great options on the Internet that make it simple to select a general greeting and template to input your photos and information into. Many sites have also made it easy to work around having to use phrase like “From the _____ Family” or “From Mr. & Mrs. ______” and have more general options such as only using your first names or “From All of Us.” We’ve rounded up some amazing options for holiday cards that we think you’ll love.
Is it a no-no to use wedding photos on your holiday card? How do you create a general greeting that feels personal to your entire circle of family and friends? What companies are going to be the most hassle free?
