As much as I’d love to do away with 99.9 percent of the gendered bullshit surrounding weddings, I have to confess, getting ready for my wedding with just my bridesmaids and the women in my family was one of the highlights of the day (my grandmother even got in on the action). Maybe it was all those years on the cheerleading squad, or my all-girl Odyssey of the Mind team, but I’ve got a soft spot for a room full of girls, a bottle of champagne, and Spice Girls on full blast. And even if you’re not having a wedding party, or your wedding party is mixed gender, who can argue with bubbly and Britpop?
