APW Happy Hour

It's time to catchupcatchup, it's time to light the lights...

hey apw,

So the week after Thanksgiving, am I right? I have to say, our whole family was so delighted to be home on Sunday. Traveling and seeing family is great, but there is really nothing like your own bed. (Apparently this holds double when you are two, since our kiddo actually giggled and kicked his feet in pure delight when we put him in his crib the first night we were home.) But then you get back, and you have to CATCHUPCATCHUPCATCHUP before the holidays. Since APW doesn’t publish the last two weeks of the year (there is no vacation like knowing there is nothing being published on your vacation), we’re gearing up hardcore around here to close out the year, and get January ready for primetime… and all the newly engaged that will join the ranks.

On that note, I thought I’d give you a rare for realz behind the scenes view of what’s happening over here. I’ve been spending much of the week sorting through your real wedding submissions, which obviously means I have the happiest job in the world. However, I also wanted to give a nice big apology to anyone that sent in their wedding this year. Our wedding submissions sort of went… crazy this year. I genuinely have no idea what happened, but suddenly we were getting four times as many weddings coming in with the exact same number of staff to manage them. (Example: I’d finally caught up on recently submitted weddings—weddings submitted a few months ago are still a project—and I looked away for two days, and came back to find ten brand new weddings submitted. OMG. OMG. Send helpz.) So we’re working through our really lovely wedding backlog, and we will get there. I want each of you who submitted a wedding this year to know that we’re looking at them, and loving them, and trying really hard to manage them. (We have weddings scheduled up to March right now! Insane!)

And with that, here is to a lovely holiday-ish weekend. I had my two-year-old help with his first cookies last week (above), and I’m still impressed with myself. And we’re literally lighting the lights (and possibly a fire in the fireplace) this weekend, right on theme.

XO,

MEG
